The multitalented John Legend will play the multitalented Harry Belafonte in an upcoming film dramatizing Paul Simon‘s Graceland tour of South Africa during Apartheid with Hugh Masekela and Miriam “Mama Africa” Makeba. Filmmaker Bill Condon will direct the picture, titled The Road Home, according to Variety. Shooting is underway.

Given his last film was over a decade ago, it’s definitely gratifying to have a unique voice in cinema like Gregg Araki back with a new movie, even if the end result is entertaining but not a top tier new addition to his filmography. The indie director broke out in the 1990s with offbeat, edgy movies like The Doom Generation and Nowhere; he’s certainly never been shy about exploring sexuality in his work, which — as you might expect by the title — is front and center in his new release, I Want Your Sex. Araki has spoken about how a motivating factor for this story, co-written with Karley Sciortino, was the oft-repeated notion of Gen Z generally having less sex and being more prudish than the previous generation, an assertion he examines through the eyes of Gen Z protagonist Elliot (Cooper Hoffman).

Jason Cloth, a financier with executive producer credits on “Joker,” “Babylon,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” has been indicted in Chicago on allegations that he ran a $100 million Ponzi scheme.
Cloth, 60, faces seven counts of wire fraud for allegedly lying to investors about how their money would be used. According to the indictment, he took money intended for a film project and a gaming platform and used it to pay off investors in a Canadian real estate project.
