Dumb Co dared me to trade my iPhone for a hacked flip phone

When Lydia Peabody saw her friend pull out a flip phone at a party last year, she burst out laughing.

“I was like, ‘Girl, what are you doing with that thing? That has to be a joke!’” Peabody told TechCrunch. But it wasn’t just a prop — her friend was participating in Month Offline, a community challenge in which a small cohort of people exchange their smartphones for flip phones.

Peabody couldn’t fathom giving up her smartphone, but her friend inspired her. A year later, her life looks different. She left her career as a licensed therapist to become the founding CMO of Dumb Co, the flip phone company that grew out of Month Offline. She’s happier.

Niamh Charles: Manchester City sign England defender from Chelsea

Manchester City have signed England international Niamh Charles for £500,000 from Women's Super League rivals Chelsea.

The left-back joins on a three-year deal after six years with the Stamford Bridge club, where she made 173 appearances.

Charles, 27, won five WSL titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups with Chelsea.

She was also part of the squad, under former manager Emma Hayes, that lost the Women's Champions League final in 2021 to Barcelona.

For the first time, scientists have used NASA's IXPE (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer) to directly measure the magnetic fields of PSR J1101−6101, a pulsar located within what is often referred to as the Lighthouse Nebula. The results provide new insight into the structure of some of the most extreme objects in the cosmos, as NASA continues to explore the secrets of how the universe works. A paper describing the results was published Thursday in The Astrophysical Journal.

The incident is the latest in a pattern of Israeli measures in the occupied territory since the Gaza genocide began.

Israel has barred the grand mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for one week.

The Jerusalem Governorate said in a post on Facebook that Sheikh Muhammad Hussein was detained by Israeli forces after delivering his Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa Mosque. Later, the governorate confirmed that Hussein had been released, but was temporarily banned by Israeli authorities from entering Islam’s third-holiest site in occupied East Jerusalem for one week, with the possibility of the ban being renewed.
