Overview

Hyundai's fun-focused N brand is growing, and the distinctly styled Ioniq 6 electric sedan is the newest model to enter the high-performance realm. Built on the same platform as our 2024 EV of the Year champ, the Ioniq 5 N, the Ioniq 6 N shares its SUV sibling's 641-hp all-wheel-drive powertrain. Lightning-quick acceleration is a given, but Hyundai has also overhauled its chassis and suspension to make it as capable in the twisties as it is between stoplights. Hyundai's N brand rarely disappoints, and by pairing the celebrated 5 N's formula with a more aerodynamic silhouette, the Ioniq 6 N is poised to be another hit.

What's New for 2027?

The Ioniq 6 N is an all-new addition to Hyundai's performance-oriented N portfolio for the 2027 model year. The standard Ioniq 6's 2026 refresh extends to the N model, which features the same thin headlights and a more streamlined façade. Elsewhere, its exterior is appropriately sporty, with a large rear wing, flared wheel arches, and a wider stance.

The Ioniq 6 N is built on the E-GMP platform that underpins several other high-performance Hyundai and Kia models, including the Ioniq 5 N and EV6 GT. Like those models, the Ioniq 6 N features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain that makes 601 horsepower normally, with the ability to temporarily deliver 641 horsepower via an N Grin Boost feature. The 6N also borrows its 5N sibling's N e-Shift party trick, which simulates gear shifts when you pull the steering-wheel-mounted paddles. When we drove the Ioniq 6 N in Korea, we found it to deliver sports-car-like handling on the track, impressive acceleration, and even more possibilities for customizing the drive modes than there is in the Ioniq 5 N.

0–60-MPH Times

Manufacturer 60-mph Estimate: 3.2 seconds

In Comparison: In our testing, a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N managed a 60-mph sprint in three seconds flat. We think that the Ioniq 6 N's aerodynamic advantage should give it a leg up and outperform Hyundai's estimate.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The EPA hasn't yet rated the Ioniq 6's range, but we estimate it will deliver around 257 miles on a charge. It boasts the same quick DC fast-charging capabilities as the non-N Ioniq 6 models, with an impressively high peak charging rate of 238 kW.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

We don't yet have official EPA estimates for the Ioniq 6 N's MPGe figures, but we estimate it will be significantly less efficient than the non-N model. That means you should expect estimates of around 86 MPGe city and 76 MPGe highway. We'll update this section once the official numbers are out, and once we're able to test the Ioniq 6 N on our real-world 75-mph highway fuel economy route.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Key differences for the N version of the Ioniq 6 seen inside include sports seats, special N displays that show all kinds of driver-centric information, an N-specific steering wheel, and faux-suede trim. It has the same touchscreen infotainment system and digital gauge cluster setup, and the rear seats are just as spacious as in the non-N. Hyundai hasn't yet detailed what equipment will be offered in the U.S.-spec Ioniq 6 N, but we'll update this section as more info becomes available.
