Amazon Just Slashed Prices on DC Hardcover Comics, Including Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman, and Grant Morrison's Iconic Superman Run

Hardcover copies of the first full volume of DC's All In publishing initiative, Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo, recently dropped below $20 at Amazon, 22% off its usual retail price.

Now, DC has dropped the price on even more top hardback comics at Amazon, with the likes of All-Star Superman, Batman: The Killing Joke, Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1, and plenty of others getting significant price drops.

If you prefer to collect hardcovers over paperbacks, then this is a prime time to pick some up, as many have dropped to all-time low prices online.

For the uninitiated, Absolute Wonder Woman absolutely rocks just as hard as Batman, and some would even argue that's entirely better than Snyder's fantastic alt-universe roided-out Batman series. My conclusion? Both are fantastic, and well worth reading.

The first volume of WW is down to $20.99 in hardcover, or $16.77 in paperback. Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 2: As My Mothers Made Me is also down to $21.40 right now in hardcover.

Another couple of comics I haven't mentioned, but are also discounted in hardback, are Batman/Superman: World's Finest Vol. 1, which has dropped to $32.17 from its $49.99 MSRP.

That's alongside Superman by Grant Morrison Omnibus, which has dropped to $47.63, significantly discounted from its $75 list price.

Both are excellent, but if you have to pick just one, I'd suggest snapping up Grant Morrison's Superman run ASAP. Not only is Morrison one of the best in the comic business, but his take on the Man of Steel is a great read, and well worth checking out for any comic fans, and of course all Superman fans.

What's The Deal with the Absolute Universe?

If you aren't already familiar with Absolute Batman, it's worth noting that it's a bit different than some of the other popular Batman comics out there. Batman is still Bruce Wayne, but instead of being a billionaire playboy, he's just the son of a school teacher.

Without money and resources to support his crime fighting, he resorts to becoming absolutely jacked so he can combine brains with pure brawn to take on the darkest parts of Gotham. Plenty of other iconic villains have entirely different origin stories that reshape their motivations across the comic series as well.

While this story exists purely in comic book form right now, DC Studios and Warner Bros. announced back in June that Absolute Batman would be getting the animated treatment.

Scott Snyder will work as the executive producer and showrunner of the series, with Nick Dragotta signed on as a producer. Although Absolute Batman is part of DC Comics, it will not have anything to do with the rest of James Gunn's DCU or Matt Reeve's upcoming Batman movie.

If you want an idea of what to expect from the comic, you can get a free peek directly from DC's website. It's one of the best places to read Batman comics online and also includes free episodes of Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman.
