Muhammad Ali Series ‘The Greatest’ Sets November Release Date, First Look (TV News Roundup)
The Muhammad Ali series “The Greatest” will premiere Wednesday, November 4 on Prime Video, with widow Lonnie Ali executive producing the first authorized scripted series about Ali’s life.
Helming from showrunner Ben Watkins (“Cross”) and Michael B. Jordan’s banner Outlier Society, the new series follows Cassius Clay/Ali’s (Jaalen Best) journey from boxing champion to humanitarian. Alongside the release date announcement, a new teaser shows intense footage of Ali training with the goal of becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing.
Best, who previously appeared in “All American: Homecoming” and “Magnum P.I.,” is joined in the cast by Michael Ealy (“Barbershop”), Dana Gourrier (“Kidnap”), Amin Joseph (“Snowfall”) and Kai Parham (“Colin in Black & White”). In addition to Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions banner and Jordan’s Outlier Society banner, “The Greatest” is produced by Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company.

DEVELOPMENT/PRODUCTION
Production has started for “Summer House Canada,” the first international adaptation of the hit reality series “Summer House.”
Filming has begun in Muskoka, Ontario. The series is set to launch exclusively on Hayu, NBCUniversal’s reality streaming service, in 2027.
“Summer House Canada” will bring together a group of friends to a shared house on summer weekends. Set in Muskoka, known for its sprawling waterfront cottages and lively social scene, the show follows as relationships, careers and personal lives collide.
“Summer House has become a beloved global franchise known for its authentic friendships, big personalities and the unforgettable moments that come from spending a summer together. We’re excited to build on that by bringing the Canadian summer experience to fans worldwide,” said Erin Haskett, president and executive producer of Lark Productions, the company also behind “The Real Housewives of Toronto.”
“Summer House Canada” is Hayu’s second original commission. The first, “The Real Housewives of London,” was just renewed for a second season.
TRAILERS/FIRST LOOKS
Once again, Detroit has other summer plans in the Season 2 trailer for “Diarra From Detroit,” which will return with eight episodes.
Premiering Wednesday, July 29 with two episodes, the official synopsis reads: “A routine furniture recovery mission lands her in the middle of a grisly new crime, setting off another wildly unpredictable adventure through Detroit’s criminal underworld. As the mystery deepens, she’ll go undercover with a secret society, chase buried treasure, and navigate a love life that’s every bit as complicated as the case itself.”
The series helms from creator, writer and executive producer Diarra Kilpatrick, who also stars in the show. DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark and Jon Chaffin return alongside Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad and Harry Lennix, with Season 2’s guest stars including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Lil Rel Howery, Morris Chestnut and more.

The coming-of-age drama series “Sterling Point” has a new trailer featuring Jay Duplass and Ella Rubin, as well as a new single from Grace Abrams’ upcoming album.
The show is created by “My Old Ass” director Megan Park, who serves as co-showrunner, director and executive producer. It follows the adventures of 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Rubin) and her family, including her adoptive father (Duplass). An official synopsis reads: “Annie’s life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets.”
The cast is rounded out by Amélie Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers and Missi Pyle.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Fake Empire and LuckyChap. “Sterling Point” will premiere on Prime Video Aug. 5 will all eight episodes.

Jerry O’Connell is joining “Big Brother: Unlocked” as a celebrity panelist alongside Season 16 winner Derrick Levasseur and Season 24 winner Taylor Hale.
The news comes as “Big Brother” gears up for its 28th season, which will premiere Thursday, July 9. “Unlocked” returns for its second season with bonus episodes that break down gameplay throughout the season. “The premiere episode launches a new interactive fan vote that will have a major impact on the game and kicks off the season’s live studio audience experience, a new addition that will continue throughout the summer,” an official statement teases.
“‘Big Brother’ is my summer and rolls into my fall too. I’m already watching on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, so the fact that CBS is now paying me to do it is kind of amazing,” O’Connell said in a statement. “This is what we call in showbiz a dream gig. I’ll do my best to be the voice of the fans, but as Julie says, expect the unexpected.”
O’Connell is known for his roles in “Stand by Me,” “Sliders,” “Scream 2” and “Kangaroo Jack.” “Big Brother: Unlocked” premieres Friday, July 10 on CBS and Paramount+.

Starz has released the trailer and key art for “Fightland,” a crime drama produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The logline reads, “On the night that British-born boxer Duke Kilroy (Howard Charles) becomes world heavyweight champion, a vicious assault leaves his brother, Calvin, dead. Duke is devastated and his reaction in the aftermath costs him eight years in a U.S. prison. Upon his release, and after having made a sinister discovery, Duke returns home seeking vengeance against the man he believes set him up — the criminal kingpin and his former promoter Kingsley Marshall (Nicholas Pinnock). But Kingsley has vanished, leaving his children and wife, Joy (Deborah Ayorinde), who happens to be the love of Duke’s life, to pick up the pieces.”
“Working with a cartel desperate to control London’s drug market, Duke begins a high-risk game of infiltrating Kingsley’s empire to destroy it from within and smoke out his enemy,” the logline continues. “But amidst a volatile criminal landscape, and competing influences threatening to pull him off course, Duke will need to channel everything that made him a champion fighter into his bloody pursuit to win the ultimate victory — revenge for his brother.”
The series will premiere on July 31, and new episodes will be available to stream weekly on Fridays on the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.
“Fightland” also stars Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cebella “Cece” Marshall, Charles Babalola as Ezekiel “Zeek” Marshall, Tahirah Sharif as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Justin “Jay” Hall and Richard Pepple as Gary “Gazzer” Kilroy.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is executive producing through his G-Unit Film & Television, along with Francis Hopkinson and Kate Leadbetter of Expanded Media, who also produce. Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith are the series creators, executive producers and writers. Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. also created the series and serve as showrunners, executive producers and writers. Otto Bathurst directs and executive produces the first two episodes.

PROGRAMMING
Paramount+ has officially greenlit a docuseries on the Texas Tech University Red Raiders football team.
The logline states, “Set in the intense world of college football, the docuseries follows the Texas Tech Red Raiders as Head Coach Joey McGuire builds a new team identity during a demanding offseason.”
The four-episode series, which is currently untitled, has been in production since January 2026 and is expected to release before this year’s college football season.
“This has proven to be a landscape-altering offseason and we’ve been lucky to have a front row seat,” said Greg Groggel, SVP Unscripted, Skydance Sports, in a statement. “This series will present fans and viewers with an unprecedented window into everything that is defining college football today.”
Micah Brown is director and showrunner, and the docuseries is produced by Skydance Sports and Second Wind Creative.
“This documentary will give the Red Raider Nation an inside look at everything that makes Texas Tech Athletics special, the people, the passion and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines this program every day,” said Kirby Horcutt, Director of Athletics at Texas Tech University. “We are incredibly proud that Paramount+ selected Texas Tech for a groundbreaking documentary with rare access.”
“This Is UFC: McGregor vs. Holloway” will air on CBS on Friday, July 10 at 6 p.m. PT, setting the stage for the main fight on Saturday.
The one-hour special, which will be available to stream on Paramount+ the following day, will feature a live weigh-in with both Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, as well as co-main event competitors Paddy Pimblett and Benoit Saint-Denis. McGregor and Holloway will also be giving interviews, and Dana White will make an appearance.
“UFC 329: McGregor vs. Holloway 2” streams exclusively on Paramount+ on Saturday, July 11, with the main card starting at 6 p.m. PT. Preliminary matches start at 4 p.m. PT, and early prelims begin at 2 p.m. PT.
Former two-division UFC champion McGregor and former featherweight titleholder Holloway will face each other again for the first time in 13 years, where McGregor won the match.

Apple TV’s new crime drama “Nocturne” will release on Oct. 30. The series is based on Lars Kepler’s bestselling crime novels, “Lazarus” and “The Sandman.”
According to the logline, the 10-episode series “tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear. When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Zazie Beetz), up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?”
Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr also star alongside Schreiber, Graham and Beetz.
The first two episodes will premiere on Oct. 30, and new episodes will release weekly on Fridays through Dec. 25 on Apple TV.
In addition to starring in the series, Schreiber serves as the executive producer, and Beetz executive produces through her production company, Sleepy Poppy. Kepler, Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry and Niclas Salomonsson also executive produce, with Julie Herrin co-executive producing. “Nocturne” was developed for television, written and executive produced by Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin, who is also the showrunner. Tim Van Patten directs the first two episodes and serves as executive producer.
EXECUTIVES
Comic Relief has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors, as well as a new vice chairman.
Versant president of entertainment Val Boreland, Google managing director of global apps partnerships Tom Gorke and Bain Capital partner David Spiller will join the public charity, which aims to fight childhood poverty with comedy.
International at A+E Global Media group managing director Patrick Vien has also been appointed to the vice chairman of the Board of Directors, which he has served on since late 2025. The Comic Relief board is also led by Randy Newcomb, the senior advisor at The Omidyar Group.
The board is responsible for overseeing Comic Relief’s strategic and financial health while also approving the distribution of grants.
