It’s Official! The Reborn Mitsubishi Montero Will Be Revealed to the World on September 2

• Mitsubishi's revived Montero (known as the Pajero in other markets) is scheduled to debut on September 2.
• The company released a new website for the off-road-ready SUV that teases a modern twist on its iconic triple-meter gauges.

The Mitsubishi Pajero is more commonly known as the Montero on our shores, and a reborn version is scheduled to debut later this year. While we're still mostly in the dark about the revived off-road-capable SUV, Mitsubishi has been steadily teasing information as the reveal draws closer. The newest teaser was released on a dedicated website for the new Pajero and confirms the return of the distinctive triple-meter gauges.

The gauges, collectively called the Multi Meter, aren't a direct copy-and-paste of the original. Instead, Mitsubishi brought them into the modern era by moving them to a fully digital format. The trio of gauges provides real-time information, including the altitude, compass heading, ambient temperature, pitch and roll angles, as well as left-right torque distribution. Whether the gauges are built into the instrument panel, infotainment screen, or a dedicated third screen is unclear, but we're holding out hope for a dedicated unit.

The new Montero will be built on the same platform as the Triton mid-size pickup, and while the SUV is scheduled to debut in Asia later this year, a North American version isn't expected to launch until sometime closer to 2030. The new version is expected to be roughly the same size as the modern Toyota Land Cruiser, with reports suggesting that Mitsubishi is trading the old rear swing gate for the more popular liftback design.
