The Download: Claude’s inner workings and OpenAI’s “super app”
Researchers at the company built a tool called the Jacobian lens (or J-lens) and used it to uncover a hidden area, which they named the J-space, inside its flagship LLM, Claude.
The J-space contains words related to the response a model is working on but may not ultimately produce. If Claude were a person (which it is not), you might say these hidden words reveal what’s on its mind before it actually speaks.

Astronomers reveal how clouds shape the hidden interiors of the galaxy's most common planets
Sub-Neptunes are the most common type of planet in our galaxy. Bigger than Earth but smaller than Neptune, these worlds remain deeply mysterious because scientists still do not know what they are made of. What astronomers really want to figure out is their interior composition. They could be rocky planets wrapped in hydrogen-rich atmospheres, or they could be volatile-rich worlds loaded with water or carbon-bearing molecules.
Japanese Boy Band Psychic Fever Wants You to Know They’re All ‘Different’: ‘We Don’t Want to Fit in a Box’
Four years after its debut, Psychic Fever built its second full-length album around a simple idea: none of its seven members sound, look or think alike, and that’s exactly the point.
The members of Psychic Fever – Kokoro, Weesa, Tsurugi, Ryoga, Ren, Jimmy and Ryushin – released their second full-length record, “Different,” July 10 through Warner Music and 10K Projects, four years after the band’s 2022 debut album, “P.C.F.” Across 10 tracks, the album pulls from Y2K-inflected R&B, U.K. garage, Afrobeats, trap and ballads, with production from Grammy-nominated Rykeyz, who has worked with Chris Brown and H.E.R. Every one of the group’s seven members had a hand in writing the songs this time, something the band has called its most personal work yet.

"I think it's sustainable," Bastian told CNBC in an interview. He said fares will likely stay strong thanks to robust demand, more diverse seat options, and a more disciplined airline industry that's learned from the past and isn't likely to expand capacity as soon oil falls.

They've been under cannon fire
Yarr, ye not be needin' to shell out for the more expensive editions of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced or its day one DLCs if you want to have "the full, complete experience". So developers Ubisoft have said in response to Steam reviews giving the Black Flag remake a thumbs down because it has a bunch of purchasable extras on sale right out of port.
Indie developer says Steam did them a solid by fixing their unbootable game to beat the Next Fest deadline
Making a game is hard, or so I've been told by those brave enough to give it a go. Mistakes happen, and sometimes your game just doesn't work. That's what happened to the developer behind Red Flag, a social deduction game about convincing your friends you're fit to survive the apocalypse in a bunker with limited resources.

After time in detention in Texas and then a shelter in New York, George eventually settled in Portland.
