Workers earning the lowest wages are the least likely to be covered by collective agreements in Germany, despite being the group for whom these protections are arguably most important. In 2021, only 34% of workers in the lowest wage decile were covered by collective agreements, compared with more than 60% of workers in the middle of the wage distribution, according to findings of a new report by the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin (RFBerlin) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg.

Apple has sued OpenAI and two former employees, alleging misappropriation of its trade secrets as the artificial intelligence company seeks to build its own hardware for ChatGPT, a major rupture in a partnership between the iPhone maker and the AI giant.

Man charged with Bedfordshire murder of his wife and daughters after arrest in South Africa

A man has been charged with murdering his wife and two young daughters after being arrested in South Africa following an international manhunt.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had authorised three counts of murder against Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, after he was arrested on Friday in Kensington, a suburb of Johannesburg.

Tshuma’s wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, who was known as Zandile, and the couple’s daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were found dead at their home in Great Denham, near Bedford, on Monday after concerns were raised that the family had not been seen for several days.

From January to June, an estimated 1,295 square kilometres (500 square miles) of forest were cleared in the Brazilian Amazon, a 38 percent drop compared with the same period last year, according to Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). It was also the lowest overall decrease since 2016.
